Senior lawyer Gowry Shangary Thavarasha, one of the leading instructing attorneys in Human Rights cases died of COVID-19 on Monday (23). 

President’s Counsel K.V. Thavarasha is the husband of late Gowry Shangary Thavarasha.  In a Facebook statement, the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) Saliya Peiris PC stated that Gowry Shangary Thavarasha was a brave lady fighting tooth and nail for her clients.

Gowry Shangary Thavarasha, Attorney-at-law our friend who fearlessly took up difficult causes of clients over several decades often standing up to the might of the State, is no more, Peiris said.

The BASL President said her loss will be felt at Hulftsdorp.
