• Shanthipura, Magastota, Meepilimana, Pattipola and Kandapola are the worst affected

Several areas in the Nuwara Eliya District has been affected by dense mist due to the prevailing inclement weather. Nuwara Eliya town and its environs including Shanthipura, Magastota, Meepilimana, Pattipola and Kandapola were the worst affected.  

The District Disaster Management Unit and Nuwara Eliya traffic police request drivers to be cautious when passing through these areas. They advice drivers to reduce speed and switch on headlights and fog lights when driving along the mist affected roads. Police said the mist has prevented a clear view of the bends and curves and oncoming vehicles.  

The police have issued a warning on the possible danger of obstructions caused by falling trees, rocks and mud that roll down the hills.
