With the overall number of daily COVID-19 cases on the rise, Health authorities notice a dramatic increase in patients under home-based care.

According to Dr Malkanthi Galhena, the Chief Specialist of the Home-based Treatment Medical Team, the total number of patients under home-based care stands at around 4,000 which was around 3,000 two weeks ago.
A total of 500 have been registered to the home-based care within the last 24 hours, which clearly depicts the rise in cases.

“Two factors have contributed to the increase in cases, such as people’s irresponsible behaviour towards complying with health guidelines and forgoing vaccine,” she highlighted.

Thus, Dr Galhena urged people to strictly adhere to health practices; otherwise, a detrimental situation would be inevitable.
