Ship carrying 3,700 MT LP gas arrives; President orders immediate distribution



  • 33,000 MT of gas to reach SL within this month

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the officials to carry out the unloading and distribution process of LP gas from the first ship, which sailed into the country yesterday carrying 3,700 metric tonnes of gas.

LITRO Lanka said two more ships freighting 3,700MT and 3,200 MT of gas scheduled to arrive yesterday and on 15th. Earlier, LITRO Lanka signed an agreement with the relevant companies to import 100,000 metric tonnes of gas.


Accordingly, it is planned to bring 33,000 metric tonnes of gas to the island within this month. LITRO Lanka Chairman Muditha Peiris said that the gas distribution will be regular and systematic from July 12 and the issues related to domestic LP gas demand will be completely eliminated by the end of this month.
