Sinopec Energy Lanka - the operating entity of Sinopec Group which has officially commenced business operations and started fuel supply in Sri Lanka last week assured that the will begin island wide operations by end of this month, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.
Sinopec initiated the first round of market promotion measures with a pump discount of Rs.3 per liter for petrol and diesel at its first franchising filling station in Mattegoda, Colombo last week.
The Minster said he had met officials of Sinopec Fuel & Refinery Operations at the Ministry of Power & Energy to discus the progress of retail operations, signing of agreements with dealerships, branding & commencement of island wide operations.
The Minister said that the Sinopec Refinery officials assured their commitment to establishing a new refinery in Hambantota and that they will submit the Request for Proposal (RFP) before the deadline next week.
Earlier, Sinopec said in a statement that its supply plan is in motion to progressively hand over all 150 filling stations to Sinopec’s management before October.
