At least 50 vaccination centres have been established in the Western Province to provide the first dose of China’s Sinopharm vaccine, health authorities said.

Accordingly, the first dose of the vaccine would be given to individuals between the ages of 30 and 59.
It has been planned to set up vaccination centres in each of the MOH offices of the three districts, which would be 47. However, the Health authorities have requested to set up at least two centres in some MOH offices depending on the requirement.

Accordingly, 15 centres have been established in the Colombo district with five centres in the Colombo Municipal Council alone. Vaccination centres in the rest of the two districts would be determined as per the requirement.
The authorities expect to vaccinate about 25,000 per day.   This vaccination plan, which started from yesterday (10), has been launched under the directive of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, the roll out of the vaccination in other districts would be carried out considering virus stains spreading in the respective areas and also the caseload and death rates of the respective areas.
