A 63 year old grandfather who sexually abused his six year old grand daughter was taken into custody by Minuwangoda police yesterday.  Investigations revealed that the child from Kurunegala had visited her grandfather’s house at Galloluwa in Minuwangoda with her father and brother to celebrate the Ramazan festival.

The suspect had entered the room where the girl was sleeping and sexually abused her. When she shouted her grand mother had rushed to the scene and taken away the girl. The girl’s father had been away from the house at the time of the incident.  

The girl who had taken ill was admitted to the Gampaha district hospital by the police.  

The suspect was to be produced before Minuwangoda magistrate yesterday.
