President of Rice Millers’ Association and Chairman of Araliya Group Dudley Sirisena alleged that some other mill owners including a leading one were involved in mixing imported rice varieties with local ones to be sold for undue profits.
Mr. Sirisena, who is also the brother of former President Maithripala Sirisena, said in an interview with Daily Mirror that rice stocks are available for three more months the country and it is possible to sell them at the price stipulated by the government. He said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s decision to introduce organic farming ruined rice farming in the country.
