• As such, the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act will be implemented in full form from now onwards

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane placed his signature yesterday validating the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill which was passed in Parliament on 20th May 2021.

The Speaker had earlier signed the blueprint of the Act, the Speakers Office said.   

As such, the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act will be implemented in full form from now onwards. Accordingly President Gotabaya Rajapaksa could go ahead and appoint the Chairman and the members of the Port City Economic Commission as per the Bill. The Bill is set to change the economic history of Sri Lanka, according to the Government.
