Sri Lanka still has the opportunity of sending toque monkeys to Chinese zoological gardens, former Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said yesterday. Mr. Amaraweera told media that incumbent President Anura Kumara Dissanayake should make use of this available opportunity and should focus on it.
“I decided to send 100,000 toque monkeys to Chinese zoological gardens during my tenure as the Minister of Agriculture but had to give it up after environmentalists protested against the move,” he said.
“We still have this opportunity and the incumbent President should focus seriously on the matter,” he added.
