Sri Lanka to receive 78,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines in July



  • 26,000 doses each would be received within the first three weeks of July

A total of 78,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka within the first three weeks of July, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said yesterday.

 He told media that a total of 26,000 doses each would be received within the first three weeks of July.

“Pfizer have confirmed that they would provide the relevant amount of vaccines as per the order placed by the Government of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the first consignment of vaccines are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on July 06,” he said.


In addition, the State Minister said a total of five million doses of Pfizer would be delivered to Sri Lanka within this year.


“The said quantity of vaccines have been purchased by the Government with the coordination of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC),” he added.
