SriLankan Airlines Restructure; Govt targets September to call for EoI

The government is planning to call for Expression of Interest(EOI) in September from potential investors for SriLankan Airlines , a Minister said yesterday .  Ports Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva told Daily Mirror the national career had been earmarked to be restructured .  “Plans are now in place to restructure it . We will call for EOI from potential investors in September. That is our target ,” he said.    

The Cash-strapped airline announced a staggering US $ 525 million annual loss earlier.  


With nearly 6,000 staff, SriLankan Airlines is the biggest and most expensive of the cash-strapped state institutions .  


According to the programme with the International Monetary Fund(IMF), the state institutions are required to be restructured.
