SriLankan captain locks first officer out of cockpit



A tense situation had unfolded aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL607 from Sydney to Colombo when the captain locked the female First Officer out of the cockpit.   

 

According to sources, the incident, which occurred recently over a disagreement during a toilet break, left passengers and crew anxious.   
Sources further said that the captain in question has been grounded following an investigation.   
The flight, operated by an Airbus A330, continued without further disruption, but the situation has raised concerns about cockpit conduct and safety protocols.   

 

SriLankan clarifies Captain grounded following an incident on flight UL 607

SriLankan Airlines confirmed that an investigation was currently underway in accordance with civil aviation regulations regarding the incident on flight UL 607 from Sydney to Colombo on 21st September 2024. The airline is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities, and the captain has been grounded pending the outcome of the investigation. Safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements remain Sri Lankan Airlines’ top priorities.
