State Minister Ranaweera’s house attacked

State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera’s house at the Sarathchandra Dias Mawatha in Pamunuwila had come under attack on Sunday night (18). 


The security guard of his property said that extensive damages had been caused to the windows on the ground floor that occurred at about 11.00 pm. and the glass panes of eight windows had been shattered.  


He said he was upstairs when he heard a noise of shattering glass on the ground floor and the voices of several individuals threatening the State Minister’s son Venuka Ranaweera.  


Members of the minister’s family had not been present at the time of the incident.  


State Minister Ranaweera said he was in the house till about 9.00 p.m. and that he left for his mother’s house in Malabe.  


He said he had been living in Malabe since his house in Hunupitiya was destroyed by members of the Aragalaya campaign.  


“When the security informed me regarding the incident I rushed to the scene to find eight windows in the ground flood damaged,” he said.  


“I could watch the scene on the CCTV recordings. We had several problems involving my son when he was attending school. However, they were resolved and he is now studying in a foreign country,” he said.  
He said that his house at Hunupitiya also came under an arson attack during the Aragalaya campaign and that he had not yet received compensation for it.  


Sapugaskanda Police are conducting investigations.
