In such a situation where people are crushed with a plethora of problems including the fuel issue, the Health Ministry said a trade union action will definitely annoy and provoke the general public.
Commenting on the strike action to be launched by 17 health unions today, Deputy Director-General of Health Ministry (Medical Services) Dr. G. Wijesuriya told Daily Mirror that it was utter injustice to go on a strike at this critical juncture.
“We as the Health Ministry have pledged solutions to some of their grievances. However, it is not possible for us to grant solutions for all of their demands overnight as the current situation does not facilitate to do so and it is also a great injustice for workers in other sectors,” he argued.
