Strugglers conspiring to destroy the State with vested interest: Wimal

Claiming that the strugglers were attempting to destroy the State tactfully with the backing of external forces, Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa yesterday said such moves should be defeated.

Speaking at the emergency debate, he told Parliament that they voted in favour of the proclamation of emergency regulations as they wanted to prevent the state being destroyed.

Weerawansa said people struggled to evict former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and that they could not approve of moves to evict all the rulers that come to power.

“If the strugglers continue to struggle to evict everyone that comes to power, we will not be able to do anything else. We have to accept that this is a legitimate government even though we like or not. We cannot let the country become another Libya. These strugglers are trying to destroy the State with vested interests,” he said.
He said the strugglers took over President’s House, Presidential Secretariat and Temple Trees and said the struggle could not be called a peaceful struggle.
