Surgeries at National Eye Hospital to resume today?



Surgeries at National Eye Hospital which was on a stand still is to resume today, Ministry of Health said yesterday.  Surgeries at the Hospital were suspended recently , due to complications which several patients suffered after surgery at the hospital. 

 

The ship caught fire some 16 kilometres off Colombo on May 20, 2021, while transporting 1,500 containers including 25 tonnes of nitric acid.  


the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) said the Australian legal firm which was consulted had advised that Sri Lanka should file a case in a Singaporean court.  
The development comes amidst , Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe alleging that he has been tipped off on several occasions about a local official being bribed by the insurer of the X-Press Pearl .


The minister earlier said that a local official had received a bribe of USD 250 million from the vessel’s insurers to hinder the litigation and compensation processes.
