The Education Ministry of the North Central Province has issued circular instructions to all principals and teachers of schools in the province to refrain from conducting fee-levying private tuition or holding educational seminars during duty hours or after school.

Secretary to the Provincial Education Sirimewan Dharmasena said their attention was drawn to Circular No. 1/24 of 04.07.2024. He said the circular was referred to the Directors of Education, Zonal Directors and Divisional Directors as well.

He pointed out that several principals and teachers in government schools in the province are neglecting their duties and conducting tuition classes, much to the anxiety of their students in school who are marginalised.

The Ministry Secretary pointed out that the fundamental right of every student for a gainful education through school should be protected to produce a generation of children with the utmost personality.

He requested the public to inform the Ministry of Education (NCP) of teachers who violated the circular instructions.
