A 17-year-old student was arrested for fatally assaulting a 15-year-old student in Sippikulama, Hambantota.   

The victim, a grade 10 student from Hambantota, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at the Hambantota Hospital on Wednesday.   

Investigations revealed that the deceased student had gone to the Sippikulama area to attend a tuition class and a student from another school from the Hambantota town had approached the class and assaulted the victim due to a dispute.   

Hambantota Police are currently conducting further inquiries into the incident.
