• The girl’s uncle had assaulted the girl on Sunday alleging that she hid information about her uncle’s daughter’s love affair

The Gampola Police launched an investigation after a 14-year-old girl died as a result of assault allegedly by her uncle and father.  

According to the police, the girl’s uncle had assaulted the girl on Sunday alleging that she hid information about her uncle’s daughter’s love affair.  

Then on Tuesday morning, while the girl was sick and moaning in pain, the girl’s father assaulted her saying that she would not let him sleep.   

The girl was then taken by her mother to a nearby house where she was later admitted to the Gampola Hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries.  

Police said the girl’s mother had lodged a complaint with the Police alleging that she had died as a result of assault.  

The police arrested the girl’s father and uncle in connection with the incident.
