• Contractors who  carry out construction work without proper standards should be removed immediately

If people misuse money assigned to be spent on the development of children, their souls will be reborn as demons in the next birth,  Eastern Province (EP) Governor Anuradha Yahampath said. 

She said this while addressing the Trincomalee District Progress Review Meeting of the Wewgam Pubuduwa Project yesterday. The Governor also said that the people should keep in mind their next lives by working without misusing public money.
She said the contractors who  carry out substandard work should be removed immediately and replaced as per correct procedures.

The governor further said that we must take advantage of every penny that we receive from foreign countries."It is not possible to let money be wasted just because it was donated or funded upon goodwill. We are a water self-sufficient country.We had a 2500-year-old agricultural culture. The intelligent people of that era used water," she said.

"These lakes are not accidental and God-given to us. These are the result of the hard toil of our ancestors," she said.

"But it is a pity to say that our water management has come down to the extent that water conservation projects are being taken up today. There is nothing to do now. Let's rectify the mistakes and move on," she added.
