Three brothers arrested for drug trafficking

A group of four men including three brothers of one family wanted in connection with drug trafficking were arrested by the STF during a raid in Ampara town. They were young men of 25 and 29 years of age. 

 A motorcycle and a car used by them to transport illegal intoxicants and a stock of ICE and heroin had been seized during the raid.  


The STF had laid in ambush in Ampara town for several days on a tip off from the public and arrested the suspects when they called over at a motorcar hiring centre in Ampara town.  


A senior STF official said the trade value of the stock of heroin and ICE seized by them could have been valued more than Rs. 700,000. He said several others involved in the racket would be arrested soon.  


STF officers IP T.B.R.P. Siriwardene, SI R.M. Lamal, Sergeant 6854 Tilakaratne, PCs 75956 Sarath, 82863 Jayasekara, 83623 Sirisena, 87810 Yasaratne, 21016 Sudesh, 26253 Silva had carried out the raid on the instructions of SP P.J. Sylester Wijesinghe, and DIG Warna Jayasundara.
