• They had died at the scene

Three farmers from Thannimurippu in Mullaitivu struck by lightning on Thursday evening (15), had died at the scene. The three men had been waiting in a hut in a paddy field during heavy rain, when they had been struck by lightning.   

The victims P. Suwarnan (34) was a resident of Kumulamunai and Kanapathipillai Mahuran (35) a resident of Wattapalai in Mullaitivu.   

Mullaitivu Police referred the bodies to DMO Mullaitivu General Hospital for 
postmortem examination.
