Three men arrested in Hatton for allegedly assaulting CEB employee

The Hatton police yesterday arrested three young men in connection with the alleged assault on a Technical Officer of the Ceylon Electricity Board during the protest staged by the workers of Shannon Estate in Malliappuwa area in Hatton to support the token strike on Thursday (28).   


Police said a team of officers of the Hatton CEB Consumer Services Centre were on their way back by lorry after attending to a breakdown in Welioya estate when the protestors obstructed their way and assaulted the technical officer and took away the switch key of the lorry by force. However, the police had recovered the switch key and handed it over to the CEB officials.   

The technical officer who received injuries in the assault is at present under treatment at the Dickoya Base Hospital.   


HQI Hatton Police CI Ranjith Jayasena said the three suspects would be produced before the Hattton magistrate.
