Two Samagi Jana Balawegaya MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara are to leave for Geneva on Monday (February 28) to bring to the notice of the UNHRC the case of former MP Ranjan Ramanayake who is currently serving a jail sentence for contempt of Court, one of the MPs said yesterday.
MP Fernando told Daily Mirror that he and MP Nanayakkra will leave for Geneva on Monday. “We shall take up the case on Mr. Ramanayake in Geneva,” he said.
“There is a move to prevent our trip to Geneva. A complaint was made accusing us of bringing a parcel inside the Parliamentary complex with the objective of preventing us from going to Geneva,” he added.
However Chief Government Whip Johnston Fernando denied any attempt to arrest Mr. Fernando earlier during the day. Mr. Fernando declared during Parliament sessions that there is no move whatsoever to arrest Mr. Fernando and Nanayakkara.
