The total number of COVID-19 cases have reduced to 160 in the Colombo City as of yesterday compared to 289 cases the previous day according to data put out by the Sri Lanka Army yesterday.
Highest number of 51 reported from a locality within the city was from Maradana. The number of cases reported from Maradana during the previous day was 4. Cases reported from Slave Island were reduced to 2 from 16 the previous day while the number of cases in Kollupitiya was reduced to 3 from 27 the previous day. Cases reported from Narahenpita were drastically reduced to 8 from 127 the previous day. Cases in Grandpass were reduced to 7 from 28 and Mattakuliya to 8 from 27.
Commenting on the situation within Colombo City, the Chief Medical Officer Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni told Daily Mirror that Colombo City had done well when it comes to controlling the disease. “We are continuing with PCR tests and are doing around 700 tests daily within the City. We are also conducting tests around 150 districts within the city such as Colombo Central North, Colombo Central South and Borella. Around 35 random tests are carried out daily,” he said.
