• Value of the smuggled stock estimated at Rs 1.3 million
• Suspects handed over to Mannar Police for further investigations

Two suspects with 219 kg of smuggled turmeric were arrested by the 15 (V) Gemunu Watch troops of the 542 Brigade of 54 Division at a roadblock in Kunchikulam, Mannar last morning.  

 The suspects were trying to take the stocks to Nittambuwa area in a Mitsubishi canter lorry when the troops on suspicion stopped the vehicle for a search.  

The value of the smuggled stock stands at Rs 1.3 million. Troops handed over the suspects with the stock of turmeric to the Mannar Police for further investigations.
