Two fishing vessels intercepted with 200 kg of heroin, ICE off southern seas

 Two multi-day fishing craft were seized with more than 200 kg of heroin and ICE narcotics by the Sri Lanka Navy off the Southern seas. The Navy has apprehended six local suspects along with the drug haul in a joint operation conducted by Sri Lanka Navy, Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and State Intelligence Service on December 14 in the deep sea off Sri Lanka’s Southern seas.

 Navy Spokesman Captain Indika de Silva said the Sri Lanka Navy Ship Samudura during a special operation carried out for several days in the sea south of Sri Lanka intercepted the two multi-day fishing vessels in the deep sea off the Deundara Point.


 Accordingly, a group of suspects were arrested along with over 200 kilograms of heroin and ice drug, which had been hidden and transported on the multi-day fishing vessels.
