Two students from a school in Keselwatta, Panadura allegedly set fire to the school principal’s office and computer room to take revenge against the principal who admonished the duo, police investigations revealed.

Police said the Panadura North Police has launched an investigation following an alert that a fire had broken out at Sri Jina Dharmadana Vidyalaya in Keselwatta, Panadura on Tuesday.
The fire damaged the school principal’s office and the computer room.  CCTV footage of the crime have revealed that two students, aged 12 and 7, who were studying at the same school were responsible for the incident. They told police that the reason for the arson was anger with the principal who admonished them for wrongdoing.

The two students were released after being produced before the Panadura Magistrate yesterday since charges cannot be maintained against minors.  The case would be taken again on May 11.
