• Two policemen had given chase after the speeding bike and had seen the duo on their motorcycle crashing against a lorry

Two late teens riding a motorcycle disobeying police orders to stop, died when their motorcycle crashed against a lorry at Kitulkote Junction in Lunugamvehera on the Thanamalwila-Wellawaya main road, police said.   

Two policemen attached to the Lunugamvehera Police Traffic Division had ordered the bike to stop at the Ellagala Junction on Tuesday night. However, the motorcycle had sped away towards Thanamalwila defying the policemen’s order to stop, police said.  

Two policemen had given chase after the speeding bike and had seen the duo on their motorcycle crashing against a lorry after which  both the rider and the pillion rider had been run over by the same lorry which they were attempting to overtake and escape. 

Police said the deceased were residents of Tissamaharama.
