UNP expels five more local government members

The United National Party has taken steps to remove from posts, seven members representing the party in five Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Galle District. This included two members in the Imaduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, and one member each in Karandeniya, Baddegama, Yakkalamulla and Bentota Pradeshiya Sabhas. 

 General Secretary of the party Range Bandara has informed the Galle District Deputy Commissioner of Elections W.H.R. Wijekumara to remove them from their posts as Pradeshiya Sabha members on the findings of the Disciplinary Committee.  


The UNP has taken this decision against the PS members concerned for supporting the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna (SLPP) during the last general election.
