US Under Secretary of State Nuland to arrive today

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland will travel to Sri Lanka today as part of her travel to the region that includes India, Nepal and Qatar.    She will be arriving today and leave the same day. Her visit is said to mark the 75th anniversary of US - Sri Lanka relations, according to the US Department of State.   Ahead of her visit, she travelled to India yesterday and discussed the issues related to the Indian subcontinent, the Indo-Pacific and convergence of India-US relations.   


The State Department said her visit to Sri Lanka will also symbolise the offering of continued US support for Sri Lanka’s efforts to stabilize the economy, protect human rights, and promote reconciliation.
