USAID had pledged to donate 36,000 Mt of triple phosphate needed for paddy cultivation, Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera said yesterday.  
The Minister revealed this during a meeting he had with the ministry officials with regard to supplying fertilizer for the 2022/23 cultivating season.  

The Minister accepted that it was not possible to supply an adequate amount of fertilizer during the last season.    He defied the remarks that had been made by Former President Maithripala Sirisena that there are serious shortcomings when it comes to the supply of fertilizer.
