A low-level atmospheric disturbance that is developing towards the south of Sri Lanka will bring cloudy skies and heavy showers during the coming days, the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.
Showers were forecasted at times in the Eastern, Central and Uva provinces and in Matara, Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts. Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are expected at some places in these areas.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern Province and in Anuradhapura
District as well.
Heavy showers were reported in several areas during the last few days as well with 179mm of rain recorded from Madowa in the early hours of yesterday while Colombo experienced a rainfall of 40mm and Moneragala 20mm.
