The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has secured the Gold Award in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition organized by the Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (APFASL), the public sector wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
This remarkable feat marks a historic moment for the University as it clinched the overall Gold Award in the Central Government category for the first time in the University category.
Competing against statutory boards, including other prominent universities, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura emerged as the Gold Award winner for the Best Annual Reports and Accounts. Notably, the institution also secured the overall Gold Award in the Central Government category, signifying its exceptional financial reporting practices.
In response to this outstanding achievement, Vice Chancellor of the University, Senior Professor Pathmalal M. Manage, commended the dedication and hard work of all those who contributed to this success.
He emphasized the competitive nature of the competition, revealing that 234 Government institutions applied for the award, and in the university sector, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura clinched the prestigious Gold Award.
Professor Manage expressed his gratitude, stating, “We have been implementing good financial practice for a long time, and this recognition is a testament to the collective effort of our university community. The Gold Award in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition underscores our commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial reporting.”
“The university looks forward to building upon this success and continuing its commitment to financial best practices, setting a benchmark for other institutions in the years to come,’ he added.
Throughout the years, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has consistently demonstrated excellence in financial reporting and accounting in the Best Annual Reports and Accounts competition. Previous accolades include winning the University category in 2017, securing the 2nd Runner-up overall award in 2018, and achieving Silver Awards in the University category in 2019 and 2020.
