Police said yesterday that stringent action would be taken against those who organise parties or events illegally on Valentine’s Day which falls on February 14, without the permission of health authorities.  

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said, information had reached that several individuals were organising parties and events through social media.    He said considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation, there  was a risk of emerging new clusters or sub clusters from such events or parties.  He said it  was prohibited to organise such events without obtaining prior permission from health  institutions.  

“No one can host or allowed to throw parties or events to celebrate Valentine’s day without permission from the relevant authorities.
