• Two police officers  detailed to provide him security

Vedda Chief Uruvarige Vannila Ettho has lodged a complaint with Mahiyangana Police regarding death threats facing him in the wake of his statement to the media regarding one of the leaders of the Aragalaya campaign Wasantha Mudalige.

 He had told the media after receiving a letter threatening him with death that he often visited cities and attended programmes in public places and that his life was in danger. He requested the relevant authorities to hold a formal investigation of the incident and to bring those responsible to book. Badulla Division SSP Sujith Wedamulla who considered the Veddha Chief’s concerns has instructed OIC Mahiyangana Police W.W.C.R. Wickremerathe to detail two police officers to provide him security. The OIC said Veddha Chief’s complaint was now being investigated.
