Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama raised concerns about President Ranil Wickremesinghe being accompanied by a large delegation to the United Kingdom claiming that only about three delegates should have been taken to minimise unnecessary expenses.
He told Parliament that President Wickremesinghe had been accompanied by about ten delegates to the UK and questioned as to why he did so.
“It is more than enough if he took a delegation of three members. We are facing an economic crisis as a result of Shiranthi Rajapaksa and then President Mahinda Rajapaksa who were accompanied by such large delegations on foreign visits,” he said.
