Wild elephant electrocuted at fruit stall

A wild elephant who attempted to feed on fruits in a fruit stall at Polatuwadiya in Gallewa had died of electric shock when it came in contact with a live wire. 

Investigations revealed that the trader had placed the live wire to prevent animals from eating fruits in his stall. He was arrested by Bakamuna Police.  Wildlife Veterinary Surgeon in Giritale was scheduled to visit the scene to carry out further investigations and to perform the postmortem examination.
