Woman arrested for allegedly causing injuries to husband’s genitals

A woman taken into custody on suspicion of causing serious injuries to her husband’s genital organ with an arecanut cutter was produced before Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Nalaka Sanjeewa Jayasuriya and released on personal bail in Rs.200,000 with two sureties.   


The suspect W.P. Darshika Bhagya Madhavi Disanayake was a resident of Yahalegama in Anuradhapura.   


The magistrate ordered police to refer the suspect woman to a psychiatrist of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and submit the report on November 17.  

Police told court that she had cut her husband’s genital organ causing about a  two inch injury when he was asleep in the house during daytime and that he was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and transferred to Polonnaruwa General Hospital for further treatments.  


Kawarakkulama police are conducting further investigations.
