A woman who had allegedly burnt her five-year-old daughter’s mouth with a firebrand has been arrested by police.  

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect woman burnt the child’s mouth in an attempt to punish her for being mischievous while she was cooking.  

The injured girl has been admitted to the Kilinochchi Hospital.  

The mother, aged 32 was remanded till October 21 after being produced before the Kilinochchi Magistrate.
