A 44-year-old woman was arrested in Pelmadulla area with more than Rs.8 million in cash in her possession, which she was unable to disclose the source through which she had earned it, police said. 

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the police received an alert about this suspicious woman who was travelling in a three-wheeler. 

Accordingly, the Pelmadulla Police arrested the woman along with a bag that contained money amounting to Rupees eight million one thousand. 

“The police interrogated the woman, but she was not able to express how she had got that money. 

The police are conducting further investigation to ascertain whether the money was earned by the woman through illegal means or she was involved in any criminal activities”, DIG Rohana said.
