• High Court fixed the case for Nov. 23 to evaluate the progress of the investigations

The Attorney General’s Department yesterday informed Colombo High Court that CID investigations into the fire-ravaged container ship, X-Press Pearl vessel are at the final stage.  

The State Counsel appeared on behalf of the CID assured Court that the progress of the investigations into the X-Press Pearl vessel would be presented to the court on the next hearing date.  The State Counsel appearing for the CID made these remarks when the High Court inquiry into the X-Press Pearl vessel came up before High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte.  Five suspects including the Captain of the fire-ravaged container ship MV X-Press Pearl and four other directors of the Local Agent of X-Press Pearl vessel were present yesterday. They are currently out on bail.   The High Court fixed the case for November 23 to evaluate the progress of the investigations into the incident.
