An individual identified as Zahran’s brother-in-law was  arrested by Kattankudy Police during a raid in Kalapalachainai area in  Batticaloa yesterday.   

Police carried out the raid on a tip-off that an unlawful meeting was being held in Kalapalachainai area.   

During the raid, the police arrested a group of about 30  individuals, including zahran’s brother-in-law. However, the suspects  who denied their involvement in any unlawful meeting stated that they  were playing cards.   Police said the suspects would be further questioned.   

A police team under OIC Kattankudy Police IP Gajanayaka had  carried out the raid on the instructions of ASP Batticaloa Division  K.M.A. Bandara and SSP Amal Edirisinghe.
