• The fresh oil spill is certainly a result of negligence

A fresh oil spill has begun from the X-PRESS Pearl vessel which caught fire in the seas off Sri Lanka, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa said yesterday.   

Mr. Premadasa who was speaking at a protest held in Homagama yesterday said he got the news of the fresh oil spill minutes before he arrived in Homagama. “ I hope that this news is not true but if it is correct, a fresh oil spill is certainly a result of negligence. We would like to question as to why the ship was not moved away,” he said. He also reiterated that multiple protests will be held in every constituency in the country.
