several ministers resign

Three cabinet Ministers have resigned from their posts as of yesterday following the latest political developments. Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera who announced his resignation was the latest to exit. He said he would resign from his post after acknowledging the fertilizer shipment that reached the country on Sunday.

 Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara were the other ministers who resigned from their posts.


In a joint letter, ministers Fernando and Nanayakkara said they would step down from the positions of the Ministry of Tourism and Lands and Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment respectively, in order to form an all-party government and provide immediate relief to the people. Meanwhile Mr. Fernando said he and MP Nanayakkara were not able to send their letters of resignation as they were not aware as to where President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is residing at the moment. 


“Also the Prime Minister did not accept our resignation letters which were sent to them,” 
he said.
