Against the backdrop of Laugfs Gas company having announced that it will resume gas distribution from yesterday after three months, it yesterday announced the increase in the prices of all sizes of domestic gas cylinders.   
Accordingly, the new price of a 12.5 kg gas cylinder ( the normal domestic cylinder) will be increased from Rs.4,199 to Rs.6,850, an increase by Rs. 2,651.   

 The new price of 05 kg cylinder will be Rs.2,740.   

Since August last year the company has increased the price of 12.5 kg cylinder by Rs.5,357 on four occasions. In August last year the 12.5 kg cylinder price was increased from Rs.1493 to Rs.1,856, in October it was again increased to Rs.2,840 and then in March 20 this year it was increased to Rs.4,199 and now it is Rs.6,850.   
Laugfs had said that unloading of a shipment of 3,500 metric tonnes of gas had commenced since Saturday night and its gas cylinders will be systematically distributed with priority given to the Colombo District and its suburbs from Sunday.
