Though the Sinhala and Tamil New Year was celebrated on April 13 and 14, rituals related to the celebrations continue to be performed for several days, Accordingly, the ‘Hisa Thel Gama’ (oil anointing ceremony) where a specially prepared herbal oil is anointed on the head at an auspicious time  is one such ritual. This year, this ritual was conducted on Sunday at various places. Here Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thera, Deputy incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo is anointing oil at the temple.
