The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Sri Lanka, the global body of professional   accountants and champions in sustainability reporting, organised a workshop recently to highlight the importance of sustainability for Sri Lankan businesses and the role of technology as a key enabler.

The workshop held at the ACCA headquarters in Parkland Building,   Colombo was partnered by Goodera, a sustainability and citizenship management technology platform, embedded with strong domain expertise, providing corporates automation and intelligence across sustainability lifecycle management, impact measurement, reporting and employee volunteering.

The event had a participation of more than 40 professionals from companies across Sri Lanka including Expo Lanka, Seylan Bank, John Keells and many other blue-chip companies, who were keen to understand more in depth the value and benefits of the role of technology in sustainability.
The session deep dived on topics that ranged from   global sustainability trends and its effect on the Sri Lankan economy, to how investors perceive sustainability performance of companies. This covered the Sustainability Ranking Systems and Guidelines from Thomson Reuters Eikon, ReobecoSam, SASB, GRI and Integrated Reporting amongst others.

The workshop also examined how technology is integral to driving sustainability in an organisation as well as how the Goodera Technology Platform provides corporates with automation and intelligence across the sustainability and citizenship lifecycle by monitoring and evaluation, impact measurement, grant making, reporting, employee volunteering and giving. Case studies on how sustainability is strategic to generating business value and reputation management were also discussed.

Each of these sessions were presided over by some of the key personnel of ACCA Sri Lanka that included ACCA Sri Lanka Chairman Member Network Panel Adrian Perera and ACCA Sri Lanka Head Nilusha Rangasinghe, Goodera Founder and Co-CEO Richa Bajpai, Goodera Sri Lanka Country Representative Chulendra De Silva and Goodera Manager Consulting and Head Sri Lanka Abhisekh Shah facilitated the sessions.

As the champions of sustainability in the country, this event was another of ACCA’s initiatives to promote the value of substantiality amongst Sri Lankan business and to drive and help shape a better environment for the county and their businesses in the future.
