Ceylinco General Insurance Ltd concluded a year long, extensive training programme for 35 of its senior managers in October.
Consisting of lectures, individualised coaching sessions, group activities, along with an assignment, involving a number of case studies, the training was conducted by globally recognised coaches and a panel of the best training experts in Sri Lanka, headed by Niroshan Silva of Training Consortium (Pvt) Ltd. This was designed as a Management Development Programme, aimed at being a part of the succession planning process of the company, gearing the top management to take over the helm of the company, as and when the need arises.
The key focus of the management development programme was to build a holistic professional, with the ability to instil values and skill to the organisation, which will result in creating a highly engaged workforce that will produce value and a competitive edge for Ceylinco General Insurance. Chief Executive Officer, Ajith Gunawardena, expressing his views, said that the objective of the programme was to expose the senior management of the company to modern techniques in management, and to provide them the skills and expertise necessary, to be more effective and engage progressively in the company.
He further said that as individuals they would benefit immensely through this programme to improve their work related activities, as well as for personal development, both at work and at home. “Also this will equip them with the right thinking to lead the changes that the organisation needs to overcome challenges, specially with the expansion that we envisage both locally and internationally”, he went on to elaborate.
Managing Director of Ceylinco General Insurance, Patrick Alwis, commenting on the programme, said that it was designed in a manner that would empower the Senior Management to become effective leaders, engaging them in company activities more vibrantly, adding value to their careers.
“The programme content focused on productivity and creating a set of engaged executives. The participants were selected from City Office, Head Office and the branch network,” he concluded.
